This post is full time and permanent, working 35 hours per week
this function requires expertise and skills in laser cutting, 3D printing, cnc, digital and traditional fabrication and model making. Operational expertise of Rhino, Blender, 3D, Adobe Creative Suite and Illustrator software are essential. The function provides a laser cutting and 3D printing service and provides a booking and induction system for students. A background in fabrication workshop and production is required with an emphasis on integration and application of digitally aided fabrication.
Supporting the academic delivery of courses using traditional and contemporary methods/techniques of fabrication and model making to assist students in their practical course work, and to assist academic and technical staff in ensuring that the fabrication and finishing equipment/facilities are maintained.
The function involves operation of a variety of equipment and processes including preparation of files and use of connected finishing techniques.
The post holder will be educated to degree level, and demonstrate a detailed expertise of traditional and contemporary/digital fabrication techniques and practices. The prosperous candidate will have excellent organisation, IT and communication skills; be able to work both under direction and independently; have practice of working within interdisciplinary media production teams; be able to build and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety or staff and students; and possess traditional and current skills in fabrication workshops/production, significant to supported courses and with established or developing skills in online media.
