Our highly skilled and creative workforce is comprised of individuals drawn from a broad cross section of the globe, who reflect a variety of backgrounds, talents, perspectives and practices that help to build our global learning community.
Bournemouth University are recruiting a Research adjunct to contribute to aprojectinvestigating the issue of novel psychoactive substance (NPS) abuse in UK prisons. NPS were previously referred to as 'legal highs' and include substances such as spice. These drug compounds are being abused in UK prisons and exposure to second-hand drug fumes is a serious issue for prison agents during their employment.
Using a combination of analytical techniques the projectteam will assess the prevalence of NPS abuse in prisons and investigate the extent to which staff working in prisons are being exposed to second-hand drug fumes. We are hiring a Research adjunct to assist with all aspects of the project including: sample collection and processing, laboratory preparation, data analysis, report writing and general administrative tasks. The prosperous candidate will be required to travel to prison sites on a frequent basis to conduct these activities. The post is an excellent opportunity to work on a novel and important project which is aiming to provide insightful data on the drug issue in prisons and also to help protect the safety of staff working in UK prisons.
This post is available on a 12 month fixed-term contract or secondment. Internal candidates may be considered for a secondment but this would need to be discussed with their line managers prior to application.
