The income range will be Grade 6 £31,479 - £33,194 per annum OR Grade 7 £35,965 - £36,945 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
The UCL Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Sensors Systems and Circuits Group is looking to appoint a Research adjunct / Research Fellow to design and develop integrated circuits in CMOS and organic transistor technologies.
The post is part of the EPSRC PNEUMACRIT project covering the development of a multi-sensor wearable imaging system that will inform lung function diagnosis for infants and children with conditions that can lead to respiratory problems.
We are seeking for a talented researcher to join our team and help us fulfil the project's goals, producing quality research. The work will involve the design and development of the integrated circuits of a biomedical multi-sensor wearable system using a combination of printable, organic and CMOS electronics. The post will entail integrated circuit design, device modelling for circuit simulations, evaluation / testing of the prototype devices and systems in the lab and writing up the results in the form of technical reports, risk assessments and papers.
In addition the prosperous candidate will be expected to contribute to the preparation of research bids and proposals as requested by the line manager and contribute to peer-reviewed publications located on project results as well as technical reports on project proposals and also deliver oral presentations at conferences, review meetings and other dissemination events.
The prosperous candidate will work within an established research team led by Professor Andreas Demosthenous.
The post is available from 6th January 2020 for 3 years in the first instance.
For appointment at Research Fellow level (Grade 7) candidates are required to have a PhD (or about to submit) in Electronic Engineering with specialisation in Microelectronics, Bioelectronics or Neurotechnology. If a prosperous candidate has not yet been awarded their PhD, appointment will be made as a Research adjunct (Grade 6B). Payment at Grade 7 will be backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis including corrections , once the PhD has been awarded. Research adjunct grade 6B: Point 24 - 26 £31,476 - £33,197 per annum.
For appointment at Research adjunct level (Grade 6) candidates should have a Masters in Electronic Engineering with specialisation in Microelectronics, Bioelectronics or Neurotechnology.
candidates for appointment at either level should have a very good expertise of analogue or mixed-signal integrated circuit design techniques and also a very good expertise of using Cadence software for the design of integrated circuits.
The capability to test electronic circuits and obtain measured results is also essential as is a commitment to high quality research. Ideally candidates should have practice of developing instrumentation for biomedical applications and a good research record supported by publications.
