This position is located in the Faculty of Science and Technology, one of the four Faculties of Bournemouth University. The Faculty has in excess of 5000 students and 300 members of staff and covers a wide area of discipline areas within it, from engineering to psychology, within its 6 Departments. Additionally, the Faculty has a very strong interest, as well as output, in the Strategic Investment Area of Assistive Technologies (one of the four key Strategic Investment Areas as part of the University's BU 2025 strategic plan) and collaborates actively and continuously with the other Faculties towards initiatives related to Assistive Technologies.
The prosperous applicant will be expected to support these initiatives and report to the Assistive Technologies Strategic Investment Area Steering Group Convener; this will include the facilitation, as well as writing, of research and expertise exchange funding bids with internal colleagues plus external stakeholders from the industry and also academia. Moreover, the prosperous applicant will be expected to be actively involved in the organization and attending of networking activities around this Strategic Investment Area, both locally as well as nationally, where and when required. Bournemouth University is also involved with the ATech Policy Lab initiative (established by our partner, Policy Connect) as well as the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Assistive Technology (APPGAT) and the prosperous applicant will also be supporting the University's continuing engagement with these. It will be expected that the prosperous applicant will have a background in assistive technologies or a directly related academic area, including a PhD in this, and also practice in prosperous research funding bid writing. Finally, any prior practice in policy-related matters or the policy landscape for assistive technologies will also be particularly beneficial.
This position is available on a fixed-term basis for 12 months.
