As part of our continuing efforts to provide comprehensive support to all students, our Department of Learning and Teaching Enhancement (DLTE) is currently recruiting an Academic expertise Manager to support student engagement, retention and success through leadership abilities and development of Academic expertise delivery and integration across the university.
The function:
As someone with practice of working with students in the Further or Higher Education sector, this function will give you the opportunity to lead the development and delivery of the Academic expertise portfolio of integrated and open academic development activities.
You will be in an excellent position to use your practice of delivering academic expertise advice, student support or employcapability services, to provide leadership abilities and line management to the Academic expertise team and shape the function as appropriate, working closely with student engagement on academic practice and embedding academic expertise across all curricula.
Your practice of delivering guidance and academic support, gathering, collating and interpreting data and strengths in strategic thinking will also serve you well, as you take responsibility for ensuring the provision of high-quality student-facing resources for all University students and staff regarding academic expertise development.
Similarly, your capability to relate to and understand the needs and aspirations of a wide variety of students, will allow you to make a truly positive difference in their academic development by ensuring your team offers inclusive, accessible academic and study expertise guidance to help them develop as effective, independent learners and achieve their full potential.
What we will need from you:
   » A degree in a significant subject or equivalent practice
   » A postgraduate or professional qualification, for example Education
   » practice of working with students in the Further or Higher Education sector; online and face to face
   » practice of delivering guidance and academic support to individuals and groups
   » practice of gathering, collating and interpreting data
   » capability to relate to and understand the needs and aspirations of a diverse range of students
   » High level of commitment to inclusive teaching, reflective practice and widening participation in Higher Education
