We are now looking for an Lecturer in Outdoor/Adventure Education to join our Carmarthen campus on a Part time (0.8 FTE), Permanent basis, working 30 hours per week.
THE function
The post of Lecturer in Outdoor/Adventure Education will be located within the Institute of Management and Health. You will be required to work as part of a team teaching across several programmes and modules relating to the outdoors, including but not limited to, outdoor education, outdoor adventure and health and wellbeing, both at postgraduate and undergraduate levels. You will lead and devise a range of teaching and assessment materials, covering several modules and subject areas.
You will deliver teaching in a variety of different learning environments and use a variety of teaching styles and approaches. You may also hold programme leadership abilities responsibilities. You will offer both academic and pastoral feedback and support to students to the highest professional standards and with regard to the continuing enhancement of the student practice.
You will make a positive contribution to the day-to-day activities of the programmes and Institute, that may cover areas such as dissertation supervision, student recruitment, marketing activities, research seminars and workshops and other extra-curricular activities, staff training and professional development.
ABOUT YOU

To be considered for this function, you will need:
   » An honours degree in a significant discipline.
   » A postgraduate qualification in a significant discipline.
   » Professional membership with significant organisation (e.g., Institute for Outdoor Learning, AHOEC, etc.)
   » practice in teaching, delivery, assessment, and student support at postgraduate and undergraduate level in an Outdoor/Adventure Education/Health related area.
   » practice in the design and development of module content
   » Demonstrable continuing commitment to professional enhancement, scholarship and / or research and project work
   » IT proficiency and practice of using digital media and online teaching
   » Proven capability to manage own workload
It would also be beneficial if you have:
   » A PhD in a significant discipline
   » Teaching qualification
   » Fellowship to HEA (or availability to work towards)
   » Hold a range of governing body awards in outdoor activities
   » capability to drive minibuses
   » practice of programme management and development
   » capability to supervise postgraduate and undergraduate research students
   » capability to communicate through the medium of Welsh (oral and written).
