TheSchoolisone of the largest, most globally engaged and vibrantChemistry departments in the UK. Bristol Chemistry has wide-ranging intellectual strength across the entire discipline, a culture of entrepreneurial activity, and anconsciousness of global impact and environment, and is the hub of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Aerosol Science.We are pursuing candidates with an international research track record in the field of aerosol science, specifically in the development and application of computational models and/or data driven tools. The prosperous candidate will contribute to the postgraduate training delivered by the CDT and will undertake research that complements and extends the experimental work carried out in the Bristol Aerosol Research Centre. The post offers a unique opportunity to joina School of Chemistry that thrives oncollegiality, scholarship and impact, at an exciting time in our history.
What will you be doing?
The prosperous candidate will develop and deliver postgraduate training within our EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Aerosol Science, contributing specifically to the coordination and delivery of a 20 credit point unit on Computational and Data Tools. They will act as a facilitator in the use of computational and data tools across the eight institution CDT and will develop their own independent research career. The practice of the candidate could be in, but is not limited to, one the following areas: developing microphysical models of aerosol transformation; atmospheric models of aerosol chemistry or climate impacts; the use of machine learning to analyse and interpret large measurement data sets, or build hybrid process-ML models; or the application of computational fluid dynamics to aerosol problems.
