Background
A full-time (1.0 FTE) Research Fellow is sought to join the Centre for Food Policy for 24 months to work on a mixed methods research project funded by the NIHR. The newly funded study, Evaluating the impact of the placement regulations on the CONvenience store sector and co-creating solutions for a healthier system (ECON) study aims to evaluate how the Food (Placement and Promotions) regulations influence the food-related behaviours of citizens, commercial results in the convenience store sector and local authority enforcement activities.
The study recognises the systems drivers in the sector and aims to co-create multiple systemic strategies that enable convenience stores to support their local community's health and wellbeing.
Responsibilities
   » Working closely with the research team across the two institutions to finalise and disseminate the surveys to eligible businesses and local authorities.
   » Collect and analyse quantitative and qualitative data from case study stores including engaging with convenience store staff, conducting in-store surveys, running citizen surveys and conducting go-along interviews with staff and citizens.
   » Supporting the organization and delivery of deliberative workshops and co-created solutions.Assisting the Project Manager with internal/external communications and dissemination activities.
   » Assisting with public contributor activities
   » Assisting with, or potentially leading on, the preparation and publishing of academic publications.
   » Contribute to overall project deliverables and Centre for Food Policy activities as required.
Person Specification
An opportunity for a researcher with a PhD in a significant topic, expertise and practice in food and obesity policy in the UK / internationally and mixed methods research in public health research. This will incorporate qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis and interpretation, work with low-earnings communities or a commitment to covering health inequalities. Necessary expertise are team working, planning and managing your workload and the capability to work harmoniously and communicate effectively with people of different ages, cultures and backgrounds.
