The Opportunity:
The appointee will be responsible for establishing clear and robust project management and student administration from recruitment to graduation for the SPADS Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT). this function will coordinate the delivery of a nationally strategic programme bringing together an ecosystem of researchers, industry, and government stakeholders operating in the defence and security sector.
As a key member of the senior leadership abilities team of SPADS, an essential part of the function will be to contribute to, and carry out strategic engagement with a large number of industrial, academic, and government stakeholders, as well as the management and facilitation of key cohort-building doctoral training events and training programmes, and raising the Centre's profile. There will be over seventy students on the programme recruited in five cohorts.
The SPADS doctoral programme will train the next generation of highly professional defence scientists, including engineers, computer scientists, and mathematicians, capable of leading developments in cutting-edge and generation-after-next technologies in information and communication technology that are poised to transform not only the world of defence & security, but also the broader civilian society.

Your expertise and attributes for success:
   » An UG degree plus significant practice; or substantial vocational practice in progressively more demanding functions involving significant project management and financial administration practice in an academic, industry or third sector environment.
   » Strong communication and negotiation expertise
   » practice in managing high value budgets /high risk projects, preferably within an academic environment
   » High quality line management expertise, effective written and oral communication expertise; and also a commitment to staff development and mentoring.
   » A availability to take responsibility and to propose and deliver solutions to difficult problems
