Job Offer: Technician / Demonstrator:Job description:Job location: Chester The School of Natural Sciences is one of the largest departments in the University of Chester, delivering a wide variety of programmes for students at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate level. We are pursuing to appoint a Technician/Demonstrator to join the Department's Technical support team. The post-holder will be responsible for the preparation and setting out of complex equipment and resources for practical lessons in Biological Sciences laboratories. The candidate will provide technical instruction for research students, in line with the requirements of the member of academic staff. They will assist the Laboratory Manager and others in the technical team in supporting students who work in the department's teaching labs. You will have good communications expertise and be able to work as part of a team. You must have an undergraduate degree in the field of Biological Sciences. Candidates should have practice of techniques and expertise in at least one of the following areas: molecular biology, immunology, genetics and bioveterinary science You must also have previous practice of providing technical support to students in Higher Education and have familiarity with setting up and using a wide variety of Biological Sciences lab equipment. You will have practice of techniques and expertise employed in practical work for Biological Sciences Undergraduate Programmes. You will also be aware of Health and Safety, be computer literate and have the capability to plan your own work. This post is offered on a full-time permanent basis.
