The School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at Queen's University Belfast, is currently seeking to recruit a talented Research adjunct to support the research of the Queen's University Belfast and MBDA collaborative research team, investigating strategies and methods for generating evidence from the computational simulation of functional performance (e.g. autonomous control of a drone) to support certification by analysis.
prosperous candidates will have responsibilities in independent research, collaborating with the QUB team, and outreach. Direct collaboration with MBDA will be a key aspect of the function, including regular meetings with engineers from the company.
The prosperous candidate must be willing to undertake, and pass, security checks as required by the funding and be able to commence the function within 6 weeks of being notified of being prosperous at interview.
The prosperous candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following criteria:
   » Have or about to obtain a degree in Mechanical or aerospace engineering, or related science (expectation 2.1 or higher)
   » Recent significant practice to include:
   »
   » Demonstrable practice in the use of the autonomous navigation capcapability on a drone (e.g. Pixhawk).
   » Demonstrable practice of programming mission profiles for a drone (e.g. Ardupilot)
   » Demonstrable practice in the use of software for simulating flight missions (e.g. X-Plane).
   » expertise of using significant techniques to carry out analyses, critical evaluations, and interpretations of data as significant to the research project

This post is available on a fixed term contract for 12 months. Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availcapability of funding.
