Job Opportunity: Research Laboratory Technician (Fixed Term):Job description:Job location: Cambridge Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 August 2025 in the first instance. The Department of Veterinary Medicine would like to appoint a highly motivated Research Laboratory Technician to provide technical support for research activity in order to ensure the smooth running of the Biomineral Research Facility. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on practice in a cutting-edge research environment while making a significant impact. The Biomineral Research Group endeavours to unravel the intricate ways in which minerals influence both health and pathology, aiming to leverage this knowledge for therapeutic or diagnostic purposes, including through engineered mineral structures. Diseases of special interest to the Group are cancer and autoimmune/inflammatory disorders. Recent work focused on improving knowledge of cell exposure to titanium dioxide (E171) in humans (Curr Opin Toxicol. 2020 Feb:19:112-120). The prosperous candidate will have practical practice of laboratory research and strong organisational expertise. ICP-MS analysis will be the major technique employed, but there will also be opportunities to work with collaborators in confocal microscopy and other analytical and imaging techniques. This is a full time, fixed term position. The funds for this post are available until August 2025 in the first instance.
