The Department of History at the University of Nottingham is looking to appoint a Teaching Associate in the History of Medicine with specialist expertise of the links between medicine and British colonialism. You will have a PhD already awarded (or to be awarded by the time of the appointment) in the significant subject area or equivalent qualification, with teaching practice at undergraduate level in the history of medicine.
The function holder will convene and teach the Third Year UG module HIST3063 - 'Disease and Domination: The history of medicine and the colonial encounter'. Additionally, the function holder will take on some level 1 seminar teaching, be assigned personal tutees, and will supervise a number of undergraduate dissertations.
You will contribute to an exceptional education for undergraduates in history and the Department's research profile and culture. You will also contribute positively to the Department's and School's initiatives in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.

About the function:
   » Design and deliver modules in the history of medicine and its links to colonialism, contributing lectures and seminars within the Department's overall teaching programme.
   » Supervise and examine undergraduate students.
   » Support tutorial groups, developing their expertise and learning expertise.
   » Take a proactive function in the pastoral support of students.
   » Be responsible for administrative tasks.
   » Contribute to impact, public engagement and interdisciplinarity.
   » Contribute positively and proactively to the Department's teaching culture.
This post will be offered on a part-time (18 hours per week), fixed-term contract commencing 1st September 2024 until 31st August 2030.
