The Institute of Advanced Legal Studies houses the IALS Library, which is a national and international resource for legal research with around 300,000 volumes. The collections of foreign and international law are the most broad in the UK and contain much unique material. The collections concentrate primarily on common law, civil law and Roman-Dutch law systems all over the world and include material in western European languages for all jurisdictions for comparative and general reference purposes.
IALS Library's primary function is to serve a national academic research community, but it has other significant and diverse communities to which it provides services including postgraduate students and practising lawyers. The library seeks to support law librarians in other universities and organisations to provide specialist library and information services in law, particularly in foreign, comparative and international law.
The function
IALS Digital Senior Library adjunct
As part of the IALS Library, the IALS Digital team develops and maintains resources to support digital legal scholarship and research, including electronic information services, in?house databases, and digital and web-located resources. The team also manages the Institute's social media, library management system, institutional e-repository, open journals and open monograph systems and virtual learning environment.
The Digital Senior Library adjunct will support IALS Digital team in the development and delivery of all digital services and resources. This will include assisting with: the management of equipment and software; web and social media management; and the development and use of content management systems and digital resource platforms. They will also support library users and colleagues in the use of computing facilities and digital resources, and as a member of the Library will contribute to the provision of front-facing services such as the Enquiry Desk, LibChat service and Document Supply Service.
