The Courtauld is seeking to appoint a Head of Public Engagement to lead the Public Programmes department and work across the institution to develop further and supervise the delivery of an ambitious portfolio of programmes and an inspiring new public engagement strategy leading to our centenary in 2032.
The Courtauld's Public Programmes department plays a critical function in our mission to advance the knowledge of the visual arts of past and present across the world, through advanced research, innovative teaching, inspiring exhibitions and programmes, and the stewardship of our collections. Engaging with audiences of all ages and backgrounds in person and online through our Learning and Short Courses units, and a rich array of public events, the department supervises varied, creative, and inspiring programmes that foster knowledge of the visual arts from a wide variety of perspectives.
As we embark on the second phase of a major capital project (Courtauld Connects), which has already transformed our Gallery, Conservation studios, and Leon Kossoff Learning Centre, and prepare for our centenary in 2032, the Head of Public Engagement will develop our institutional public engagement strategy and supervise and grow our Public Programmes offer for the benefit of a wide and diverse public.
The function-holder will help to embed a culture of public engagement and knowledge exchange across the institution in line with the Courtauld Strategic Plan, the Courtauld Research Strategy, funder priorities, and UKRI public engagement, impact and knowledge exchange, and civic agendas. They will work across the institution, collaborating closely with departments including the Courtauld Gallery, Commercial and Visitor Engagement, History of Art, Conservation, Research, Marketing, Advancement, and Finance.
