The opportunity:
We have a great opportunity to join the compliance team at the University of Edinburgh's Bioresearch & Veterinary Services that support staff and students who use animals in scientific research. The function will be key for providing advice on and facilitating the accurate recording of regulated procedures carried out under the Animal (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 (ASPA). The ideal candidate will need to communicate well with researchers and disseminate consistent information regarding the annual Returns of Procedures (ROP). The post holder will be responsible for reconciling Home Office Annual returns with the information held at the Establishment level within the available databases. The jobholder will also devise systems and processes to gather, collate and analyse all significant information on animal use, which may be required to address queries under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). The function will contribute to our commitment to openness in animals research.
This post is full-time (35 hours per week), however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns.

   » Capcapability of analysing and solving a wide variety of practice problems with people, service performance and development using judgment
   » Excellent IT expertise (data handling, management and analysis; Microsoft Office package)

   » Excellent interpersonal and communication expertise with the capability to communicate (written and oral) clearly and diplomatically with a range of stakeholders
   » practice working under the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act (ASPA 1986, revised, 2012)
