About the function
The Department of Biology is seeking to recruit a Research Technician. This is a full-time post, funded by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation and the John Fell Fund for 12 months, working under the direction of Dr. Tina Schreier in the Department of Biology, University of Oxford, South Parks Road, Oxford OX1 3RB.
The responsibilities/tasks of the postholder will be to undertake research work as directed by the manager. The postholder will provide support in establishing an efficient transformation protocol for the C4 plantGynandropsis gynandra.The work will primarily involve plant transformation and tissue culture.
About you
The postholder should have practice of plant tissue culture and a proven record of prosperously maintaining sterile in vitro cultures. Molecular biology expertise and practice of working with minimal supervision are required, along with the capability to work co-operatively as part of a team and to lgain new methods and expertise. A proven track record of accurate record keeping, and data analysis is essential. The prosperous applicant will have good communication expertise and will be educated to at least A-level or equivalent qualification in science.
