Job location: De Havilland Campus, University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield
We are seeking to offer an opportunity for a forward-thinking primary teacher, possessing UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), to join our welcoming and highly motivated team of lecturers to provide a high-quality learning practice for a diverse range of learners.
Main tasks and responsibilities
The prosperous applicant will work collaboratively and independently within a staff team to lead, plan, organise and deliver teaching and assessment of students training to teach maths in primary schools. The prosperous person will work flexibly as a team member to engage with a broad range of teaching and other activities in the Schools of Law and Education, drawing on significant skills and professional expertise. The person appointed will work with school partners to support and develop trainees' professional, subject and curriculum expertise through centre (UH) and school-located training, managing their own work efficiently. Travel to schools to support and enhance the quality of school-located mentoring will be required. The prosperous applicant will actively engage in scholarship and/or research, supported by University and School of Education and staff.
Skills and practice required
The post holder will have proven practice of teaching in primary school(s) in the UK and/or significant practice of working in the Initial Teacher Education sector. The prosperous applicant will demonstrate the appropriate breadth and depth of subject, pedagogical and professional expertise in Primary education to be able to provide effective and innovative teaching in Primary maths. In addition, the prosperous applicant will need to demonstrate a proven track record of making a positive impact on pupils' learning and progress and be able to visit schools (and other settings) to observe student-teachers' practice.
Qualifications required
The post holder will have UK Qualified Teacher Status and a Postgraduate degree in a significant field or significant practice, or an appropriate qualification at first degree.
