This is an opportunity to join the SPOTLIGHT project. This exciting project aims to discover new Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs) and pulsars using the GMRT, one of the largest low-frequency radio telescopes in the world. GMRT is a precursor to the next generation SKA radio telescope due to begin observing in 2026. SPOTLIGHT uses a PetaFlop computing facility located on cutting-edge NVIDIA GPUs to enable real-time commensal searching for radio transients using 2000 beams on the sky. This post is funded by STFC and is fixed term until 1 April 2026.
The function will focus on enabling multibeam signal processing of the collected data by extending the AstroAccelerate software package. This involves tailoring AstroAccelerate to the SPOTLIGHT science case, both in terms of aspects of the software engineering and signal processing algorithms.
The prosperous Post-Doctoral Research adjunct (PDRA) or Research Software Engineer (RSE) will contribute to the design, implementation, and development of software to enable the SPOTLIGHT project. They will collaborate with colleagues at GMRT and have the opportunity to visit them in India.
