Offer: Principal Lecturer/Reader in Materials Engineering:Job description:Job location: Hatfield FTE: 1.0 FTE income: UH9 £56,021pa to £66,857pa by progression via annual increments Annual Leave: 35 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our offices between Christmas & New Year Job location: College Lane Campus, Hatfield Main tasks and responsibilities To make significant contribution to the leadership abilities of research in the department, including gaining research funding awards as Principal Investigator, the development of the research environment in the department and across the University and publishing in peer-reviewed journal articles and other internationally excellent or world-leading publications in education. As a member of the senior academic staff within the School, the postholder will be responsible and accountable to the Head of Department (or other managers e.g., Dean, Deputy Dean or Associate Dean) for all tasks including day-to-day learning and teaching, research, enterprise and administrative activities. Skills and practice required The prosperous candidate will have a professional track record in Materials Science / Engineeringand skills and practice of teaching and assessing modules in the following Materials Science / Engineering subject areas: » Materials properties (strength, creep, fatigue, corrosion, etc.) » Strengthening mechanisms » Materials processing (forming and joining processes) » Automotive and Aerospace Materials Good interpersonal and presentation skills with proficiency in the English Language are essential with the capability to manage conflicting demands and work to deadlines. Qualifications required First Degree and a PhD or equivalents in an appropriate area of Materials Science / Engineering or an equivalent, significant postgraduate professional qualification, plus Fellowship of Advance HE.
