Lecturer, Malay/Bahasa Indonesia The School of Humanities invites appropriate candidates to apply for a faculty position in Malay or Indonesian Language in the Centre of Modern Languages at the rank of Lecturer. Candidates must have a considerable track record in teaching, curriculum design, multimedia course materials development and expertise of new technologies in language instruction. The prosperous applicant will teach introductory to advanced Malay and/or Bahasa Indonesia courses to tertiary students. Developing pedagogical materials, incorporating technological innovations into the curriculum and expertise of current trends in second/foreign language teaching methodologies will be an added advantage. The Centre for Modern Languages (CML) is a diverse department offering 15 Asian and European languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Russian, Singapore Sign Language, Spanish, Tamil, Thai and Vietnamese). The centre places great importance on enhancing the intercultural expertise and skills of the learners as well as their linguistic competence. Requirements Candidates who have the following qualifications are encouraged to apply: » Postgraduate Qualification in Malay or Bahasa Indonesia as a foreign language or in Malay or Indonesian studies. » practice and demonstrated excellence in teaching both languages, preferably at tertiary level. » practice in developing both Malay and/or Indonesian language materials, including web-located materials. » practice with multimedia and computer-located instructional technologies. Remuneration income is commensurate with qualifications and practice.
