The function
Due to an internal promotion, We are seeking for a flexible person to join the Health and Safety team in the Campus Division, reporting to the Health, Safety and QA Manager. The function is to provide professional advice and support to all members of Campus Division and other business partners on health and safety matters.
Campus Division encompasses departments responsible for the facilities and infrastructure at the University of Bristol, including Capital Projects, Building and Asset Maintenance, Catering, Facilities Management (including residential), Print and Post services, Planning and Property, Security, Venues & Events, External Estates, Sustaincapability and Smart Technologies, Business Support (Administrative and IT).
What will you be doing?
You will lead on developing and delivering a health and safety management system and deliver written and verbal guidance on all H&S matters to Campus Division. To include:
   » Designing and delivering improvement programmes and projects aligned with the Divisional goals and objectives, development and delivery of safety culture initiatives
   » Creating and delivering training, toolbox talks, safety alerts and other communications. Delivering competent and engaging presentations.
   » Carrying out audits and site inspections, and proposing appropriate corrective action
   » Analysing statistics and statutory reporting
   » Planning, measuring and monitoring key performance elements
   » Interpreting current and upcoming legislation and build into processes
   » Investigating and reporting on minor and major incidents providing emergency incident responses where significant. Supporting business continuity planning.
   » Supporting departmental projects such as construction and refurbishment projects, providing bespoke advice and guidance as appropriate.
You should apply if
You will need to have practice and a specialist knowledge and knowledge of soft and hard facilities management, food safety, construction, along with a NEBOSH Diploma (incl. working towards) or equivalent.
Proven broad practice of working in a property/estates or facilities environment would be an advantage, as would practice of writing risk assessments, delivering training, development of policy and process, and auditing.
