Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and practiced programme manager to join a 4-year NIHR funded Global Health research group at Imperial College London, with project partners in Kenya, Tanzania and Nigeria.
This is a collaborative grant, investigating approaches to I ntegrated T B and R espiratory care in A frica (iTARA). The programme will use multidisciplinary research methods and has a strong focus on capacity development, supporting both PhD and post-doctoral students.
As the UK located programme manager, you will be an integral part of our team. You will lead the day-to-day operational and financial management of iTARA activities and provide mentoring and guidance to partner sites to support the use of best practice project management across sites.
We are seeking for a colleague, with a passion for high quality project and financial management, and excellent communication expertise. It is important that you enjoy working collaboratively in a diverse team. practice of research management and of working in or with partners in the Global South will be beneficial.
tasks and responsibilities
As the programme manager for this grant you will:
   » Provide overall day-to-day management of iTARA projects, reporting to the study management team
   » Work with the research office to ensure effective budgeting and financial monitoring
   » Liase with funders, and submit narrative and financial reports as required
   » Plan, organise and supervise project meetings in the UK and overseas
   » Co-ordinate the dissemination of activities and findings through periodic reporting, social media and the website
   » Provide support and mentorship to African project management colleagues
   » Ensure that the iTARA team uses best practice project management processes
   » Support the development of new collaborations and new grant applications
As the UK located Programme Manager, you will be located in the UK with travel to African partner sites in Kenya, Tanzania and Nigeria.
Essential requirements
   » significant academic and vocational qualifications with practice in a significant function, OR broad practice with evidence of on-the-job training, practice and development
   » Proven practice of project management
   » Proven practice of financial management
   » Proven capability to produce clear and concise reports and technical documents for research, policy or other professional functions

The post will be start in July 2024, and the contract will run for 3.5 years in the first instance, with the possibility of extension subject to funding. The post is located in the National Heart and Lung Institute of Imperial College London (South Kensington Campus).
This is a full-time function, but we are open to flexible working hours, or compressed working hours over 4 days/week. We will expect you to spend 2-3 days each week on site at Imperial College London, but there are opportunities for hybrid working around this.
