Southampton Law School is a global Law School, firmly rooted in the UK with a mission to respond to the greatest global challenges that humanity faces. We have a robust internationalisation agenda and as a Law School in the Russell Group (QS ranked 78th) we are committed to research-driven legal education as well as engaged, innovative and impactful scholarship.
Our Global Law Clinic (GLC) was established with the primary aim of developing students into reflective graduates who can shape the world around them. To achieve this, the GLC offers students the opportunity to take part in human, non-human, and environmental law clinics. As such, the GLC is not simply about providing students with practical legal practice, but to teach students to reflect upon issues such as ethical dilemmas and the impact of law on society.
We intend to strengthen our national and global partnerships with law firms, NGOs, and university law clinics. We also intend to further develop our clinical legal education initiative.
The prosperous candidates will be a qualified barrister or solicitor (England & Wales) with at least one year's post-qualification practice and have a current practising certificate. The new post holder will be required to supervise students working in our different clinics (e.g., the live-client clinic which operates as a teaching ?law firm').
What we can offer you
located at our lively Highfield campus, you will have access to state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities, as well as our sports complex, Hartley Library and Staff Social Centre. Having secured a £300m bond investment we are committed to investing in the University's future and long-term stcapability.
The UoS believes in supporting and promoting equality and diversity to create an inclusive working environment. We believe this can be achieved through attracting, developing, and retaining a diverse range of staff from many different backgrounds who share our ambition to be a university recognised for delivering world-class research and creating a community that values independent thought.
