Job Opportunity: Senior Legal Services Advisor:Job description:Job location: Bristol The function Legal Services, Governance and Information Compliance - Office of the University Secretary (the University's in-house legal service) is seeking a Senior Legal Services Advisor to enhance its existing team supporting delivery of the University's refreshed Vision and Strategy and on-going operations. This is a full time, permanent post but part time applications are welcomed. The Legal Services team provides a wide variety of advice and support on legal and compliance issues to all academic and professional departments of the University. The team's responsibilities include work in the areas of property and commercial law, employment law, intellectual property, insurance, risk management, data protection, freedom of information, equality and diversity, support/fitness to study, records management, staff and student mediation and dispute resolution, appeals, complaints and discipline What will you be doing? We have a new opportunity for a highly literate and organised individual to work alongside the University Lawyers and provide legal support, analysis and advice under supervision. The function will mainly involve supporting the property and commercial team in their work advising the University on all (non-research) legal matters within that team's remit. The work may include carrying out legal research, drafting contracts, supporting strategic projects, triaging work requests and supporting on-going training, case management and horizon scanning needs. There will be opportunities to work with the University Lawyers dealing with employment and student related procedures such as academic appeals, student complaints and support to study as well. You should apply if You have an undergraduate law or significant degree, or CILEX accreditation or equivalent or are working towards accreditation. You should have practice of working in a legal department or law firm in a compatible area of law.
