The Discapability and Neurodiversity team is looking to recruit a full-time, permanent Discapability Adviser.
Working closely with the Senior Discapability Adviser and other team members in Discapability and Neurodiversity, the post holder will primarily be responsible for the advice, guidance, and support, on an individual or group basis, of disabled students and candidates.
The post holder will contribute to the delivery of a high-quality service for students with a wide variety of diagnoses to support disabled students around all aspects of university life, helping to develop inclusive practices across the University. The post holder will also work within the team to contribute to projects to develop the service or activities to meet the needs of students.
About you
Knowledge of the needs of disabled students in a higher education setting, broad practical working knowledge of DSAs and related processes, an excellent knowledge of key legislative requirements, and practice of designing, delivering, and evaluating training and workshops are all essential criteria for the prosperous candidate.
The prosperous candidate will have a good knowledge of developments within the HE sector, and demonstrate resilience in a time of change. Under the guidance of the Senior Discapability Adviser, the prosperous candidate will promote good practices across the institution and will be able to work flexibly, sometimes outside of core hours and across the year, both on-campus and remotely.
skills in mental health or qualifications meeting DfE requirements for conducting specialist tutoring or mentoring is desirable.
