Research adjunct:Job description:Job location: London About us The mission of the UCL GOS Institute of Child Health is to improve the health and well-being of children, and the adults they will become, through world-class research, education and public engagement. The UCL GOS ICH, together with its clinical partner Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, forms the largest concentration of children's health research outside North America. GOS ICH's activities include active engagement with children and families, to ensure that our work is significant and appropriate to their needs. GOS ICH generates the funding for our research by setting out our proposals in high quality applications to public, charitable and industrial funding bodies and disseminates the results of our research by publication in the medical and scientific literature, to clinicians, policy makers and the wider public. The Institute offers world-class education and training across a wide variety of teaching and life learni ng programmes which address the needs of students and professional groups who are interested in and undertaking work significant to child health. GOS ICH holds an Athena SWAN Charter Gold Award. About the function This is an exciting opportunity for an motivated individual to develop innovative diagnostic tests to clinical application using targeted proteomic technology. The post is for a Research adjunct who will work in the UCL Biological Mass Spectrometry Centre in the Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health https://www.ucl.ac.uk/child-health/research/genetics-and-genomic-medicine/b iological-mass-spectrometry-centre. The post commences from May/June 2024 under the supervision of Dr Kevin Mills, Dr Wendy Heywood & Dr Tom Baldwin The prosperous applicant will be responsible for providing assistance with research projects, developing targeted proteomic assays to clinical standard for industry collaborations, implementing Good clinical laboratory practise and an alysing large cohorts of samples using tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) methods. This post is funded for 12 months in the first instance. About you candidates must have been awarded a BSc or equivalent in a significant subject. practice in performing routine laboratory analysis is essential.
