Hosted by the School of Economics at the University of Nottingham, the Bank of England's Decision Maker Panel (DMP) is a regular survey of UK businesses, which is used by the Bank of England to monitor developments in the economy. Established in 2016, the DMP is funded by the Economic & Social Research Council and the project is led by Principal Investigator, Prof. Paul Mizen, Vice Dean (Research) & Professor in Economics, King's Business School. The research grant is administered by Kings College London.
We are now looking for a Project Operations Manager to manage the DMP office in the School of Economics at Nottingham.
The purpose of the function is to provide administrative leadership abilities and management to ensure the effective operation of a small contact centre that recruits survey participants from the Chief Financial agents of small, medium and large UK businesses. Line managing a flexible team of around 20 part-time staff, the function holder will, in consultation with the Principal Investigator, work independently to deliver strategic resource and operational planning, financial administration, quality assurance and regulatory compliance consistent with the requirements of the project.
You will have significant operational management and business planning expertise, including practice of leading and motivating a team. Your excellent communication expertise, proven analytical and problem-solving capcapability and excellent customer relationship expertise will enable you to collaborate effectively with both internal and external colleagues and teams. The function requires regular contact with colleagues at the Bank of England.
An eye for detail, financial management expertise, a flexible approach to working and competent IT expertise are essential for the function, which will also require you to interpret and manipulate data, and produce graphs and other presentation formats using advanced Excel techniques. practice of website content editing and publication would be an advantage, as you will be responsible for maintaining the project website (www.decsionmakerpanel.co.uk).
As this full-time function (36.25 hours per week) is grant-funded, it is available on a fixed term contract until 19 March 2026 when the current grant is due for renewal. Job share arrangements may be considered.
