Working within Facilities Estates Operations, the Sustaincapability Coordinator will take a key functioninthe Environment and Sustaincapability Team, with tasks across a range of environmental sustaincapability operational activities, projects and behavior change events and initiatives. They will manage day-to-day operational waste activities including supervision of waste contractors,andlead development, implementation and communication of Facilities environmental sustaincapability behavior change activities for staff & students, delivered under the Green Lancaster initiative. The function will also involve assistance in coordination and facilitation activities with Faculty and Departmental sustaincapability teams, assistance with the maintenance of the Facilities Environmental Management System and certain sustainable travel activities and projects.
Candidates will have a passion for, and good knowledge of, environmental sustaincapability related issues and environmental management in the HE Sector. Candidates would be expected to show initiative, and possess planning and organisation expertise, be able to prioritise and manage variable workload to meet deadlines and demonstrate good communication expertise.
Candidates will possess an appropriate academic qualification to degree level in an environmental management related discipline, or possess broad practice in a similar function. Candidates will have practice in environmental management in the HE/FE sector, in particular in relation to waste management and delivery of behaviour change activities and programmes for staff and students. An knowledge of, and practice in, the implementation and operation of environmental management systems, travel plan projects and initiatives and sustaincapability engagement is desirable.
