Applications are invited for an adjunct Professor (formerly University Lecturer) or Professor (formerly Reader) in Statistics to commence on 1st September 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter. Appointment at adjunct Professor would be for a probationary period of five years, with appointment to the retiring age thereafter subject to satisfactory performance. The prosperous candidate would become an Associate Professor once probation has been prosperously completed. A candidate who can demonstrate a track record of exceptional achievement may alternatively be appointed directly at the level of Professor.
Candidates should hold a PhD or equivalent in statistics, mathematics or a closely related subject, have an outstanding research record in statistics and be able to demonstrate their capability to lecture a range of courses in statistics. candidates will be expected to give undergraduate and masters-level lectures, taking feedback from students and providing them with career or pastoral advice, and perform other usual departmental tasks such as those connected with examinations. They will be expected to investigate new areas of research and funding opportunities, and submit grant applications. They will also be required to write papers for publication, attend conferences, network with national/international colleagues and give presentations.
