Senior Research agent (12 Month Maternity Cover):Job description:Job location: Newport Imperial Park, Newport (hybrid working) About Us We are Qualifications Wales, the independent organisation responsible for regulating general and vocational qualifications in Wales. We focus on publicly funded qualifications, including GCSEs, A-Levels and vocational qualifications. We're currently looking for a Senior Research agent to join us on a 12 month, fixed-term contract covering a period of maternity leave. We are also open to discussing requests for alternative working patterns, including part-time and term-time, during interview. The Benefits - income of £40,100 - £47,470 per annum - 30 days' annual leave (in addition to public holidays and up to three days office closure at Christmas) - Flexible working arrangements - Membership of the Civil Service Pension Scheme The function As a Senior Research agent, you'll be playing a key function in the delivery of research and advice that will enable qualifications to be created, developed and evolved for school-aged children in Wales. Specifically, you will support our research into how qualifications can respond to the continuing impact of Covid-19 and how qualifications taken by the age of 16 could be reformed. You'll work collaboratively with statisticians, researchers and teams across the organisation, undertaking high-quality research projects and producing innovative ideas and solutions. About You To join us as a Senior Research agent, you will need: - practice in designing and delivering high-quality primary and secondary research studies - practice in working with external research suppliers or other researchers or statisticians - practice of publishing research reports, papers or articles - practice of peer reviewing or providing constructive critical feedback on the research work of others - To be highly IT literate with a comprehensive working expertise of statistical or qualitative analysis packages - Hold, or expect to obtain, a minimum of a 2:1 in an undergraduate degree in a significant social science subject that included a substantial element of research methods training OR Hold a minimum of 2:2 in an undergraduate degree and hold, or expect to obtain, a postgraduate qualification in a social science related discipline OR - At least 4 years' social research practice practice (this would be practice designing, managing and conducting research in a research agency, market research agency or specialised research team) Other organisations may call this function Senior Researcher, Lead Researcher, Senior Education Research agent, or Senior Assessment Research agent.
