Job Offer: Head of Department (Biosciences and Chemistry):Job description:Job location: Sheffield Full-time 1.0 FTE/37 hours per week Closing date 15/12/21 at 23:30 As Head of Department you will provide visible strategic business and academic leadership abilities for the department, in a way which supports and enables Sheffield Hallam's ambition to be the world's leading applied university. The Department of Bioscience and Chemistry is one of 5 departments in the college. Department staff work both within the arena of teaching and research activities within the integrated Biomedical Research Centre (BMRC). As Head of Department you will be responsible for the staff across the department and work very closely with the Head of the BMRC. You will be responsible for ensuring the department achieves the highest standards of excellence in all areas, including teaching, learning and the student practice, and research and innovation. This is a key leadership abilities function within the college, and will be part of the College leadership abilities Team. You will need a strong academic profile combined with leadership abilities and management expertise and practice, including: » Significant practice of leading academic colleagues, including strategy development. » Exemplary people management expertise. » Exceptional organisational expertise. » Evidence of building partnerships internally and externally and of collaborative working right across an institution. You will also be able to demonstrate a strong knowledge of the HE environment in the context of the department and its constituent subjects.
