This post represents an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to join a team of staff at the NIHR School for Primary Care Research, which is hosted within Keele University's School of Medicine.
The NIHR Schools for Primary Care Research has, jointly with the NIHR Schools for Public Health and Social Care Research, received additional funding from the NIHR to deliver a programme on ?Improving mental health and wellbeing in underserved populations through collaborative research?. Collectively, the Schools are well placed to carry out research that is cross-cutting and community-orientated to address challenges faced by those living with a range of mental health problems and their families, friends and carers, and able to develop significant research on a population level as well as (importantly) specific groups of individuals from underserved communities within them. The programme includes the development of co-created research priorities, practitioner lead initiatives, research projects and a capacity building programme which includes the funding of early career and senior fellows.
The Community Engagement Manager plays a fundamental function within the programme to meet its ambition to commission and support mental health research in the benefit of underserved populations. The function will build relationships and lead on the involvement and engagement activities within this mental health programme with underserved communities. They will work together with a newly appointed Research Associate or Research Fellow in Involvement and Engagement to deliver a significant and inclusive programme and strengthen the evidence base and skills in patient and public involvement and engagement within mental health research.
The University is committed to operating flexible working practices wherever possible. The function can be taken on remotely, though occasional travel to the office at Keele University will be required. Additional travel all over England to support events and strengthen engagement with communities will be required.
