Job Offer: Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Thermal Energy / Thermal Energy Storage (E&R):Job description:Job location: Exeter The above full-time post is available from 10th January 2022, on a permanent basis. The function The University of Exeter is seeking to make an appointment in Thermal Energy / Thermal Energy Storage within the Department of Engineering. The University welcomes applications which build on Exeter's growing research strengths in this area and face our research and teaching needs within the department. Research areas of interest include, but are not limited to: » Clean heat technologies » Energy storage technologies » Heat and energy transfer » Geothermal energy » Solar thermal energy. The position of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Thermal Energy / Thermal Energy Storage will be located in the Renewable Energy group at the Penryn Campus in Cornwall that is directed by Professor Lars Johanning (https://emps.exeter.ac.uk/renewable-energy/). The group is part of the Engineering department, led by Professor David Butler FREng (www.exeter.ac.uk/engineering). Engineering currently has over 80 academic staff across our Exeter (Streatham) and Cornwall (Penryn) campuses. Academics in Penryn have particular skills in Offshore Renewable Energy, Solar Energy, Energy Storage, Energy Policy and Sustainable Environment. The work of the Renewable Energy group includes Power Electronics and Smart Grid at Streatham Campus, where the main Engineering focus is towards computational analysis, nano-engineering, vibration engineering, materials and manufacturing and biomedical engineering. About you For a Lecturer level appointment post you will have: » A PhD or equivalent in Thermodynamic Engineering or other significant subject and have an independent, internationally-recognised research programme in a significant active field of research » A track record in attracting funding for research; » A track record of excellent publications in recognised journals; » Enthusiasm and capability to teach modules in Renewable Engineering; For a Senior Lecturer level appointment, in addition to the above, you will have: » A high potential for research leadership abilities » A strong track record in refereed publications and success in significant grant capture » Relationships with external organisations and funders/ and expertise and practice of key sectors or business challenges Please ensure you read our Job Description and Person Specification for full details of this function.
