tasks and Responsibilities
UCL Physics and Astronomy is among the top departments in the UK for this subject area: UCL is consistently placed in the global top 20 across a wide variety of university rankings - and is currently 8th in the QS World University Rankings 2020 and 4th in the UK for Physics and Astronomy.
The department has a expansive and diverse research portfolio, with around 250 enrolled Postgraduate Research (PGR) students . this function works alongside the Senior Postgraduate Research Administrator to support PGR students all over their time at UCL, from recruitment to graduation.
A focus of the post is supporting our Postgraduate Teaching adjunct (PGTA) activities. PGTA's are students who assist with teaching and marking of undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses. The post holder will be responsible for setting up contracts and arranging termly payments for work carried out. The post holder will work closely with the Director of Teaching to ensure PGTA's are allocated work and paid in a timely manner.
this function would be appropriate for candidates with practice in administration, either Higher Education or other sectors. It will beabusyfunctionina fast-pacedenvironmentandthepost-holderwillbeexpectedtoquicklyassimilateinfo rmationas wellasbeingadaptableandflexiblewithregardstotheirworkload.

Key Requirements
practice of working in a busy office environment working towards fixed deadlines.
Computer literacy, including competency in desktop applications including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook as well as capability to use spreadsheets with formulas.
Good numeracy and data analysis expertise with the capability to deal with high volumes of processing while maintaining accuracy.
Excellent oral and written communication expertise including spelling, punctuation and grammar and attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal expertise and the capability to develop effective relationships with stakeholders, including students, staff and external partners.
