The University of Manchester is the lead partner in the programme which also includes researchers at the Universities of West of England and Birmingham, working in collaboration with the National Nuclear Laboratory (seehttps://nuclearrobots.org/) As part of the RNE programme you will help develop robots and autonomous systems that will be necessary to address decommissioning challenges for the UK's legacy nuclear facilities. You will have (or expect to receive shortly) a PhD (or equivalent) in mechatronic engineering, robotic systems, engineering dynamics or a similar discipline or have equivalent practice. In addition, you will have practical practice of developing and implementing your own low-level robotic systems, such as velocity control. In depth knowledge and practice of robot dynamics and modelling of dynamic systems, relating to aquatic robots is highly desirable. practice of programming robots using ROS in C++ or python is required. You will have a strong publication record and demonstrable practice of prosperously working as part of a team.
