This full-time, permanent post is available from January 2022.
The University of Exeter Law School provides undergraduate programmes in law with business (LLB and BBL) on our Penryn campus in Cornwall. The programmes are provided in close collaboration with the University of Exeter Business School and are designed around a student-centred vision of active learning underpinned by a commitment to high quality teaching.
The function
We are pursuing to appoint a new Senior Lecturer with a particular interest in areas related or complementary to environmental law, and commercial and corporate law.
The post will include working with the existing environmental law research team in Penryn, contributing to the development of interdisciplinary research in collaboration with other schools as well as helping build Exeter Law School's research profile.
The post will also include working as part of a small team to design and deliver excellent teaching. You will help teach and develop core and/or optional undergraduate and postgraduate modules, including in one or more of the following areas: commercial law, company law, environmental law, maritime law.
The position would suit an outstanding researcher who values interdisciplinary team-located collaboration and a teacher who has a passion for education and learning, and for developing students to realise their full potential.
About you
For a Senior Lecturer post you will have an independent, internationally recognised research programme in an active field of legal research related or complementary to existing Exeter strengths. You will be able to demonstrate the following qualities and characteristics:
   » a PhD or equivalent qualification/practice in Law or a closely related discipline;
   » a strong record in attracting funding for research, or demonstrable potential to attract such funding;
   » teamwork expertise to work in collaboration with existing team members;
   » an active and supportive approach to inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research that will help foster interactions and links both within the University and externally;
   » the aptitude and capability to engage in continuous professional development;
   » the aptitude to develop familiarity with a variety of strategies to promote and assess learning;
   » involvement in projects which develop impact
   » enthusiasm for delivering high quality undergraduate and postgraduate programmes;
   » a strong record of research grant capture;
   » proven academic leadership abilities expertise;
   » external recognition as an authority in the broader subject area;
   » an knowledge of the importance of equality and diversity within an organisation and a commitment to helping create an inclusive culture.
