Job Opportunity: Senior Lecturer in Optometry:Job description:Job location: Hertfordshire The School of Life and Medical Sciences, Department of Clinical and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Hertfordshire is seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer to contribute to the Optometry programmes. The post holder will support learning, teaching and research, working as an integral part of the optometry and the wider team. Main tasks and Responsibilities You will contribute to the continuing development and delivery of learning and teaching and related activities, drawing on your own areas of skills. You will be expected to develop and implement innovative and appropriate teaching methodologies, which promote interest, knowledge and enthusiasm amongst students. You will need to participate in programme reviews and ensure the curriculum is of a high standard and maintains currency, particularly in regard to General Optical Council regulations. You are expected to work closely and proactively with colleagues within Optometry as well as across other disciplines in the and you will contribute to the development of external contacts and networks. You will monitor maintain and evaluate data in relation to teaching and other work responsibilities as required. You will also be expected to contribute to research, consultancy or other scholarly activity in a significant field. Skills and practice You must have proven recent and significant post qualification practical practice e.g. practice of teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, with the capability to use appropriate teaching, learning and assessment methods. Additionally you will have practice in practice working in community, hospital or primary care with evidence of current clinical practice, with an consciousness of current issues in health and optometry practice and include an inter-professional perspective, and be a source of knowledge and skills and possess breadth or depth of specialist knowledge with an interest in various aspects of optometry. You will be expected to have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and organisational and time management skills. You must have the capability to work in a collegiate and interdisciplinary setting. Qualifications Required This appointment will be made in conformity with guidance from the GOC that you must have: At least two years recent and significant post qualification practice and maintained a minimum of two years current and continuous GOCregistration. You will have a first degree or equivalent in optometry, or related discipline, and must also hold a higher degree (or equivalent) or professional qualification in Optometry or related subject.
