We offer an exciting opportunity for an practiced and enthusiastic midwife to contribute to the provision of high quality learning, teaching and assessment of midwifery students. This post is offered at either Senior Lecturer or Lecturer grade dependent upon practice and qualifications .
Part of your function will be to maintain and establish collaborative relationships with NHS and other health care service providers and actively support both students and practice-located staff within the clinical arena. You will be committed to teamwork with excellent communication expertise, you must have a good honours degree, a higher degree, (for the Senior Lecturer post) and be a practising midwife registered on the appropriate part of the NMC professional register. You will have significant practice within midwifery including practice of teaching undergraduate students. Personal development of staff is of key importance and support for an individual development programme will be offered.
The UoC Midwifery curriculum has been approved against the NMC (2019) Standards for pre-registration midwifery; a Midwife (Degree) Apprenticeship pathway is also offered (pending NMC approval).
You will need to work in partnership with the course team, practice staff, students and service users to deliver high quality education that is significant to maternal health service users and their families. You will undertake a link lecturer function, and provide educational support for practice managers and assessors in clinical areas. A current knowledge of key issues pertaining to midwifery practice and maternal and child health is therefore essential.
Working in partnership with local NHS trusts, health and social care providers, service users and carers; our Institute of Health provides initial pre-registration education for a broad range of health care professionals, including occupational therapy, diagnostic radiography, sports rehabilitation and coaching, midwifery, physiotherapy, social work, children and families, psychology, paramedic, counselling, all four fields of nursing, adjunct practitioner and nursing associate. Our well-established portfolio of continuing professional development is key to workforce development and upskilling of staff who are employed within the sector.
