This full-time post is available from 1st June 2022 until 30th June 2023 and is part of a project involving the University of Exeter. It is funded through the European Regional Development Fund and forms part of the European Strategic Investment Framework for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Summary of the function
The function will support the work within the Renewable Energy Group, at the Penryn Campus in Cornwall. The research project is part of an ERDF project, CORNWALL FLOW ACCELERATOR, aimed to underpin the deployment of 1000MW worth of floating offshore wind (FOW) by 2030, developing a low carbon footprint approach to floating offshore wind operations leading to significant CO2 reductions.
You will lead on research activities with a particular focus towards the development of an Ec Simulator able to simulate multi-complex Floating Offshore Wind farm strategies. This will include detailed simulation of a FLOW environment that is informed by outputs, observations and recommendations from ML and real scenario drivers to enable the development of a Ec Simulator.
this function offers the opportunity for hybrid working - some time on campus and some in the house.
You will:
   » Have a PhD or equivalent in a related field of study
   » be a nationally recognised authority in simulator development, as well as leading on developing GUI applications
   » be able to lead on programming of new simulation GUI and Ec Simulator, from initial planning and design, through implementation, integration, deployment, and support
   » be able to work collaboratively with academic and industry stakeholders, and supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required
