This is a permanent full-time function of 35 hours per week.
this function can be located from our York or London office (under a hybrid working agreement) or be home-located.
About the function:
Reporting to the Head of Business Intelligence & Surveys, the Researcher will develop and lead complex research projects across Advance HE's portfolio of work. Advance HE's approach is evidence-located, using research to identify what works, and develop practice-located solutions. The work of the Research team is central to these aims, and the post holder will contribute significantly to consolidating the evidence base and raising the profile of Advance HE in the sector.
The Primary Responsibilities Include:
To lead and conduct research projects on a variety of topics using the most appropriate quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods, ensuring projects are delivered on time;
To prepare proposals for bespoke research projects or external invitations to tender and manage the delivery of outputs from specific prosperous bids, often autonomously;
To engage with significant stakeholders, including HEIs, research collaborators, and external funders, representing Advance HE and negotiating details of research on sensitive topics as necessary;
To project manage a grant supporting a high-profile Commission, with an aim of influencing the sector to achieve more positive results for disabled students. In addition to leading on the secretariat function to the Commission responsibilities will include leading on research and evaluation activity and developing and disseminating outputs to reach a diverse audience.
Person Specification:
We're looking for someone with a degree and further qualification/in-work training in the application of research methods, ideally with practice of conducting research especially within the HE sector. expertise and practice of conducting research into discapability and mental health of staff and students will be of particular benefit for this function but is not essential.
