Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), part of UKRI
We are pursuing a Team Head to lead ESRC's Work, Education & expertise Team, developing and delivering an outstanding portfolio of research on employment, labour markets, expertise, education, and technology.
ESRC is the UK's largest organisation for funding research in the social sciences. We support independent, high quality research which has an impact on the public sector, business, and civil society. The ESRC is part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI)-a non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
Key Responsibilities include:
   » Delivering and managing thematic research investments and programmes relating to different aspects of work, education, and expertise
   » Working closely with the ESRC's academic Education Research Director, Dr Gemma Moss, in delivering the new £5m interdisciplinary Education Research Programme for 2022
   » Building strong links with academic, policy, business, and research funder communities-both within the UK and internationally-to catalyse research ideas and drive forward their subsequent development and delivery
   » Leading a small team (approximately six people) with direct line management of approximately three staff (Grade E).
To succeed in this function, you will have:
   » A degree or equivalent significant practice
   » expertise of the landscape of social science research in employment, labour markets, education, and expertise-or a demonstrable capability to acquire this rapidly
   » Strong track record of project and programme management
   » Excellent collaboration and influencing practice, including building a diverse network of key contacts and potential partner organisations
   » practice working and delivering in a fast-paced research or research funding environment
   » Strong communication expertise, including the capability to write and present compelling arguments and recommendations to a range of internal and external audiences
   » Excellent numeracy expertise, with practice of handling budgets and exercising financial control
