this function is an exciting opportunity for a Research Associate to work in a multidisciplinary research and clinical team made up of respiratory doctors, nurses, psychologists, and trial management experts, to develop, optimise and evaluate an artificial intelligence digital intervention for patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).
About the function:
You will work closely with patient and public involvement (PPI) service groups and conduct qualitative research with clinicians and patients with respiratory disease. You will analyse these interviews using the person-located approach to identify key behavioural issues and design needs.
Working closely with digital app developers and clinicians to understand and implement findings, and you will support a randomised controlled trial to evaluate the digital intervention. During the randomised controlled trial, you will conduct qualitative interviews to understand how the intervention can be further optimised. You will integrate these findings with other measures during the trial (e.g., quantitative, and digital metric data). The function will involve the preparation and presentation of qualitative research findings and supporting the preparation of quantitative research findings.
General Requirements:
You will have been awarded a BSc in psychology, behavioural science, mental health research or a related field. Have expertise of the key issues when working with NHS patients and practice in using qualitative methods. You will also have depth and breadth of expertise of significant subject matter and consciousness of the latest developments in this field of research.
this function is offered on a fixed term basis from 01/02/2022 until 31/08/2024 working part time hours (3 days per week) 22.5 per week.

The function is located in the Department of Psychology, University of Bath. The department is situated in a new £30m purpose-built facility, containing two floors of state-of-the-art labs for interview, group observation, EEG/ERP, virtual reality, psychobiology, eye-tracking, pain, cross-modal and computerised testing.
