The automotive sector is looking at the wider scale use of virtual prototyping & validation to reduce product development cycles. Technical challenges, as well as people & organisation challenges need to be dealt with.
As engineers when we talk about digitalisation we tend to focus on the tools & techniques. By contrast, when you try to implement digitalisation, the main barriers are often around the people & culture. This raises a few questions: How do we address the people & cultural barriers and help the sector move into a digital future more easily? What do we need to do to better manage digital transformation within an organisation? Should we design the tools and techniques differently to facilitate this?
