Swansea Academy of Learning and Teaching works together with Faculty and professional service colleagues through discussion, reflection, and inspiration so that teaching continually develops and Swansea students practice valuable learning opportunities. This is achieved by shaping and supporting staff pedagogic development so Swansea continues to be recognised for its outstanding learning and teaching environment, driving a positive impact on the student practice.
SALT leads and provides support for various projects and activities including, amongst many others, an annual Excellence in Learning and Teaching conference, staff Learning and Teaching Award scheme, a supported pathway for AdvanceHE Fellowship and the delivery of PGCert teaching in Higher Education.
We are pursuing to appoint 2 innovative individuals to join a team of academic developers within SALT. The prosperous candidates will have a strong pedagogical knowledge and record of delivering excellence and innovation in learning and teaching. They will understand how technology and design can be used to support the enhancement of quality teaching.
The post holders will provide expert advice, guidance, support and training to academic staff and other key stakeholders across the university in the appropriate pedagogic use of technology learning platforms. This will require a detailed, in-depth knowledge of technologies used to support learning at Swansea, including but not limited to Canvas and Turnitin, for blended, distance and traditional learning.
Key responsibilities include:
   » Use an evidence-located approach to embed best practice in learning, teaching and assessment across all university academic activities.
   » Work with and support all Faculties to facilitate an knowledge of the pedagogical approaches and opportunities presented by the appropriate use of the technology. With the aim of embedding best practice into curricular activities to support learning, teaching and assessment.
   » Contribute to the development and communication of training plans, CPD programmes, webinars, and resources in collaboration with SALT colleagues to assist staff across the University.
   » Develop skills in core educational platforms, both technical and functional capabilities, to enable effective pedagogic application and technical support.
Essential criteria for the post include:
   » Demonstrable evidence, practice, and the capability to operate within the University's Professional Services Values.
   » Educated to Degree level or equivalent.
   » Significant and significant academic, professional or knowledge and practice in learning and teaching in a Higher Education or equivalent environment.
   » broad and current knowledge of the technologies used in Higher Education (including but not limited to VLE's, EMA and audience participation tools and synchronous delivery platforms) and how they can be effectively integrated into teaching.
