Research agent IVTG:Job description:Job location: Swansea Contract: Fixed term position until 31st July 2023 Job location: Swansea University Medical School, ILS1, Singleton Campus The research agent will be located in the Institute of Life Science that hosts a wide variety of research activity in state-of-the-art facilities on the Singleton Campus of Swansea University. They will support research activity in the In Vitro Toxicology Research Group (IVTG), carry out primary research involving patients (and in vitro cell models) and help supervise PhD, Masters and BSc students. The post holder will carry out patient focussed cancer research, collecting tissue samples from patients at Singleton hospital and processing them in the laboratory for mutational endpoints. The post holder will also carry out mutation research in vitro (using cell-located 2D and 3D systems). The post holder will supervise the ethical and research governance aspects connected with the patient-located research. candidates should have a PhD in a significant subject and practice of research delivery, writing papers and supporting students. Excellent laboratory expertise related to DNA mutation and knowledge of patient focussed research are essential as well as knowledge of handling clinical samples and of the ethics/governance issues relating to clinical research. The post holder will be expected to take a lead in writing high quality publications and co-writing grant applications. Excellent project and time management expertise, and the capability to deal with complex problems are necessary.
