We are pursuing three enthusiastic lecturers to contribute to these vibrant undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in a number of ways:
For Post 1 - candidates for this post will ideally have skills/interest in the sociology of youth and cultural sociology/criminology. The post will also involve working with colleagues in Law and Policing on our Foundation Year in Law and Social Science (skills in Law is not required).
For Post 2 - candidates for this post will ideally have practice/interest in gender/sexuality and teaching research methodology - qualitative and quantitative - at undergraduate level.
For Post 3 - candidates for this post will ideally have skills/interest in the sociology of crime, which may include victimology, cultural criminology, police culture or criminal justice for example. The post may also involve some quantitative methods teaching at undergraduate level, so practice or availability to work in this area is required.
The function
Research is the cornerstone of our practice. The prosperous candidate is expected to be developing a track record of high-quality research outputs and will supported towards future research earnings generation activities. Presently our research is broadly framed in relation to media, technology and consumption; social inequalities and migration; gender, health and mortality; and contemporary policing culture(s), but other research specialisms are welcome.
