Context of the function
We are pursuing a motivated, collegiate and enthusiastic Senior Research agent to work on (but not limited to) the research project ?SME credit risk assessment: The function of market and accounting information?, funded by the ESCR under the ESRC Impact Acceleration Account. Specifically, the post-holder will provide researchassistance and administrative support that contributes to the both development of the aforementioned project and to the production of other research articles appropriate for publication in high-quality academic Journals.
Banks' need to implement reliable credit risk models to timely and precisely forecast corporate failure is imperative to reach appropriate lending decisions. Within the corporate market, SMEs represent a large segment in several economies. Given their importance, it is imperative to implement credit assessment models specifically addressed to SMEs. To this purpose, the objective of the funded research project is to develop a credit risk model for SMEs which also incorporates market information.
The project ?SME credit risk assessment: The function of market and accounting information? aspires to overcome the absence of market information for unlisted SMEs and develop a structural model of corporate default risk incorporating market information of comparable firms which are listed in the stock market. The intended impact of our project would have the objective to accelerate the provision of a more accurate SME credit risk model for financial institutions that could ultimately benefit from the incorporation of market data when assessing SME credit risk.
