Job Offer: Research Associate (Urban Governance and Planning):Job description:Job location: Sheffield Job location: Geography and Planning Building, Winter Street Contract: Fixed-term until 3rd January 2023 Working pattern: Full-time, Monday-Friday Are you interested in developing leading publications on regeneration, culture and heritage that support and develop ground-breaking University engagement with place? This post provides an opportunity to work with leading practitioners of urban change to synthesise and promote a long-standing programme of engagement at a city and regional level by the University of Sheffield. Working with Professor Vanessa Toulmin (Director of City and Culture, University of Sheffield) and Professor Malcolm Tait (Department of Urban Studies and Planning), you will help to draw together testimonies, data, and other evidence accumulated through many years of engagement between the University of Sheffield and partners to deliver leading programmes in arts, culture and heritage regeneration. It will also include work with Professor Toulmin on a leading initiative in heritage conservation, Morecambe Winter Gardens, seeking to develop learning and academic engagement with continuing work on this project. Working with a wider team, including academics from the Department of Urban Studies and Planning, you will prepare academic and other publications on these programmes, enabling the story of the University's engagement with arts, culture and heritage to be told to a wider, academic audience. You will have a PhD (or equivalent achievement) in a significant subject area, expertise of academic and policy debates on regeneration, place and urban change, as well as practice of preparing literature reviews and the capability to write up research clearly and effectively in multiple formats. The post will support the University's recently-launched Made Together Programme that seeks to make our region greener, more innovative, healthier and more vibrant. Cultural vibrancy is a key strand of this programme, and this post will help to develop the academic profile of this important area of work. It will also contribute to the University's impact activities, extending the already significant work that has been carried out between the University, other local authorities and a range of partners.
