Job Opportunity: Senior Biocurator (LIPID MAPS):Job description:Job location: Cardiff Division of Infection and Immunity School of Medicine College of Biomedical and Life Sciences We have a great opportunity to join the LIPID MAPS team, as a Biocurator. You will be located at Cardiff University, and will provide core support for a new curation project, building lipid biochemical pathways in LIPID MAPS (http://www.lipidmaps.org)and WikiPathways (https://www.wikipathways.org/index.php/WikiPathways). LIPID MAPS is the largest curated public lipid database in the world and is led jointly by Cardiff, Babraham Institute Cambridge and University of California San Diego, funded by the Wellcome Trust. LIPID MAPS hosts several databases, software tools, structure drawing tools, an encyclopaedia, educational resources, webinars, data deposition functions and more, and serves a global community of around 66K scientists researching lipids. New funding from ELIXIR (https://elixir-europe.org/) allows us to partner with another database resource, WikiPathways, to build lipid biochemical pathways. Presently, we have around 50+ experts worldwide able to submit their specialist knowledge to these resources, enabled and lead by a project biocurator. We are seeking for a candidate with a Degree in a biochemical, biomedical or related disciplineand the enthusiasm to work with lipid experts in the field to curate their knowledge into pathways using the PathVisio interface (https://pathvisio.github.io/). Curation would involve supporting an expert using PathVisio, or performing curation into PathVisio directly. The post holder will work with other biocurators within the team and will have access to developers and training to enable their work. Additionally, the post holder will be the single-point-of-contact for the pathway curation project and will be required to interact with participating experts. expertise required are: knowledge of biochemical pathways, capability to manage multiple curation projects with academic partners, capability to lgain and draw biochemical pathways in PathVisio.
